Schmap: New York Photo Inclusion

September 27th, 2009

Today I received an email from Schmap about the inclusion of one of my pictures from New York. It’s actually not an amazing photo by any means but I like that it can of use to others. And this is possible thanks to the Creative Commons license. I suppose if you try to make a living out of it you may see it in a different light but for any recreational photographer this a nice way to share your pictures.

Now that I’ve finally found a good software (Aperture – the topic of a future post) to manage all my photos, I’ve uploaded a few more photos from Columbia:

Photography Class – The Aftermath

October 6th, 2008

Last weekend I attended the Digital Photography Class I signed up for a couple of weeks ago. It was a very comprehensive introduction to photography. I really enjoyed it and picked up a lot of things I didn’t know. I actually got to test (and unfortunately reach) some of the limits of my Nikon D60. One of the interesting technique I picked up is panning. It consists of following a moving subject and take a shot with a relatively slow shutter speed to capture the movements. Taking a photograph of a still subject in a moving environment gives an equally interesting effect. I also want experiment more with shadows (Metering on a bright background with a low ISO which makes the subject only appear as a shadow). It was time and money well spent. I’ve put a few of the photographs I’ve taken below.

Photography Class

September 14th, 2008

I just signed up to a photography course which will take place in 2 weeks. It’s a two-day (Sat/Sun) training on the basics of digital photography. I’ve had a DSLR for some time now but I feel that I don’t make the best of it. Hopefully I will learn more about how to use my camera and about photography in general (ISO, colour temperature, white-balance, etc).
